06/24/2010 - Atlanta, GA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Atlanta Thrashers are expected to name Craig Ramsay their next head coach at a 4 p.m. press conference Thursday.

Ramsay was an assistant coach for Boston the last three seasons and previously served as head coach with Buffalo on an interim bases in 1986-87, then again with Philadelphia during the 1999-2000 season. He stayed on as bench boss for the 2000-01 campaign but was fired 28 games in after a 12-12-4 start.

The Atlanta Journal-Consitution reports the 59-year-old Ramsay may be joined by Blackhawks assistant coach John Torchetti, who would come on board as associate head coach. He was rumored to be the other leading candidate for the job.

Ramsay has also been an assistant for Ottawa, Florida and Tampa Bay. He brings over 20 years of coaching, scouting and front office experience in the NHL.

John Anderson was fired as head coach in April in a management shuffle that also saw Don Waddell promoted to president and Rick Dudley to the general manager's position.

Atlanta finished 10th overall in the Eastern Conference this past season with a mark of 35-34-13.
