The highlight of Jimenez's month was the no-hitter he threw April 17 against the Atlanta Braves. He walked six in the 4-0 victory, but struck out seven and retired the final 12 batters in order in recording the first no-hitter in Rockies history.

Jimenez got a victory in each of his five April starts, as he allowed just three earned runs in 34 1/3 innings (0.79 ERA). All of his earned runs allowed came in his first two starts, and over his final three outings, Jimenez threw 22 1/3 scoreless innings.

Additionally, Jimenez struck out 31, walked 14 and did not give up a home run. Opposing batters hit only .186 against him.

Other pitchers considered included the Giants' Tim Lincecum, the Mets' Mike Pelfrey, the Nationals' Matt Capps and the Phillies' Roy Halladay.
